picture perfect
For his latest ad campaign Mr. Red Sole used brilliant still life photographer Peter Lippmann to capture the must have shoes for this season. The inspiration was 18th century still life paintings. Each shoe was perfectly placed in the picture to created a balance of the beauty of the still life and lust for the shoes. Each photo was retouched to give the effect of a 18th century painting.
Just amazing !

That's late
Well apparently French couturier Christian Lacroix owes his creditors about 14 million dollars. He was forced to file for the French eqivalent of Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Tisk Tisk. This recession. A girl can't even buy a $50,000 one of a kind dress from a rich man anymore. Sigh...

Dear Summer: Skin This!
I have a small confession. I am a beauty nut. Over the past few years, I have tried almost every cream, mask, moisturizer and balm on the market (and sadly I've seen a few pesos go down the drain due to products that broke me out or just didn’t work). I completely understand the frustration of trying product after product and the result is a complete letdown, especially if you want that sunkissed glow for the summer.
So this season, before you clamor to the beaches to get that good Doutzen Kroes or Giselle glow, here are a few of my beauty secrets:
Facial Soap: Basis
Price: $2.49
My skin is really sensitive and I have bouts of acne from time to time. This soap is mild and manages to cleanse the skin without stripping it of every bit of moisture.
Moisturizer: Clinique M Protect SPF 21
Price: $22
I love it1 It’s not too greasy and not too filmy. It provides the adequate amount of UV Protection (SPF 21) you will need to get through the day and won’t dry out your face.
Aftershave Solution: Tend Skin
Price: $ 20
Men & Women can use this to smooth over razor bumps. A bit pricey (if you are under a “recession budget”), but it get’s the job done without too much sting.
Mask: Queen Helene’s Mint Julep Mask
Price: $4
My mama told me to never leave home without it and I don’t. This stuff is gold for ethnic skin. So long blemishes and breakouts, Hello radiant complexion!
Facial Scrub: St. Ive’s Apricot Scrub: Blemish and Blackhead Control
Price: $5
If you go into anyone’s bathroom medicine cabinet, you will see this orange and white tube; they're smart. To keep healthy skin, you must use this twice a week to prevent any breakouts. It’s Perfecto!
Lips: Baxter of California’s Hydro Salve Lip Balm
Price: $8
Keeps lips hydrated and kissable and has a wonderful mojito flavor.
All these items are located at either your local CVS or Sephora

Social Studies: Dree Hemingway
Tinsley, Fabiola, Bee, Julia, Vanessa and now we can add Dree Hemingway's name to the list . Dree is rapidly becoming a fixture of the international party scene(which is NOT easy ask Olivia Palermo). Dree is sipping cocktails with other "socials" who usually spend their days shopping for the latest garments and partying in the hottest ventures the world has to offer. Hemingway who is a trained ballet dancer , actress and now model is the latest to penetrate the world of socials. Dree is the great granddaughter of Ernest and daughter of Mariel Hemingway. Dree is quickly making her name is the industry with campaigns from DKNY and Abercrombie & Fitch and editorials for teen Vogue and D magazines. If there was still a socialite rank I think they would like her.
What do you think ?

Chanel: Venice
Here is something special just for our readers. I wanted to share with everyone a short film shot by The Kaiser. The film was shot when Lara Stone came for her first fitting for the Chanel 2010 Cruise collection. The entire film was improvised, it was just Karl, Lara and a unnamed male model and one camera.

Boys of Summer
Mag: V-Man (13)
Season: Spring 2009
Photographer:Josh Olins
Stylist: Jay Massacret
This summer, I plan on being very LOUD with my choice of color scheme and eye gazing prints. I'm beginning to unleash my inner Liberace (which has laid latent this past fall/winter/ and semi-spring). These boys are my inspiration.
